Walking Alone with The Lord - Exploring the Solitude

Water Soul's

By the Shore I Will Be
I will arise now and go
Go down to the shore
Feel the gentle lapping
Puddling around my core
Spray of the salt tickling my senses
Movement of the breeze losing my burdens
I will arise now and go
Go down by the shore and swim
Washed clean by the waves
I will arise now and go
Go down by the shore
And be one with the Lord.
The wind echoes thru the swaying palms your message
The sun beams down your love
The water nourishes my soul with your covenant
The harvest contents my hunger with your promise
I will draw in the breath
I will let myself go
Go down by the shore
And walk with the Lord once more.

Walking Alone with The Lord - Exploring the Solitude
The author Merton wrote 'our real journey is interior. It is a matter of growth, deepening and surrender. Surrender to God's will and his action through us in the creative action of love and grace."

Jesus spent time alone with God

Mark 6:46 "After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray."

Matt 14:23 "After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray."

And When facing His biggest trial of all: His crucifixion He spend time with God alone in the garden of Gethsemane.

And he encouraged his disciples to do likewise.

Mark 6:31 states “And Jesus said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat.”

We each have a place where we go and be ourselves.  Where we can tear down those walls we hide behind.  A place where we no longer need that painted mask that hides the brightness of our smile and sparkle of our eyes. A place where we longer need that coat that hides our very

Psalm 91:4 suggests that the coat and mask are of no real substance anyhow. They certainly do not protect you. “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”

I think the following song verse perhaps catches the essence of the message

"Next time you're found with your chin on the ground
There's a lot to be learned so look around
Just what makes that little ole ant
Think he'll move that rubber tree plant?
Anyone knows an ant can't
Move a rubber tree plant
But he's got hi-i-igh hopes, he's got hi-i-igh hopes
He's got high apple pi-i-ie-in-the-sk-y-y hopes...
Whoops there goes another rubber tree."

When we go to that place  A simple place.  A quiet place.  A place where we can walk alone humbly with our Lord without all the extras this world seems pile on layer by layer. A place where we can delight in sticking out our tongue to catch that drop of morning rain.  A place where we can marvel at the colors in a dew drop on a tiny blade of grass. A place where we can study that ant moving that bug twice his size.

Then we too can move a rubber tree.! We can be all He meant us to be!

Where is that place for you?  When will you go? Why not today?  No excuses – Just go
